Air-King 14010 ‘Blue’

Brand: Rolex

The King

In our opinion the Air-King is one of the most underrated models from Rolex, and to be honest we don’t understand why. The Air-King is interesting in every way. There is so much variety in the Air-King model, and its history is not only important, but filled with many interesting stories.

The Air-King was based on the Oyster Perpetual which was very successful during the 1930’s but it was configurated with a new dial and name. Since many fighter pilots were already wearing an oyster perpetual, rebranding an existing watch would be a smart move. On the first advertisements it even said “Air-King, the new Rolex Oyster perpetual”. If that’s not quirky enough, Rolex officially released the Air-King in 1958 even though it had been produced and sold to the public for over a decade already whilst being introduced in 1946.

The Rolex Air-King is maybe the least known sports model that Rolex produces whilst running as one of the longest and that is something we like. One of our favorite features is the beautiful sunburst blue dial and the 34 mm case size, make this a perfect neo vintage example of an Air-King.

The watch is fully serviced by our watchmakers and comes with the original box and papers! Where history meets a timeless buyer definitely comes to practice with a watch like this one.
