The shantung fabric is known in the industry as the gold standard for silk.

Shantung is mainly used in high end clothing like wedding dresses, tailor made suits or evening wear. This is foremost because of its elegant drape but also because it is very light. And last but not least, its subtle irregular almost fluted texture reflects the light in a beautiful way. This texture is the reason why this Ref. 1500 is nicknamed Shantung. The idea of a shantung looking dial in a Rolex, works just as the word oyster. It gives a sense of class, refinement and luxury.

The example we show here is in perfect condition and has the beautiful vintage elements to it that we love. The folded oyster bracelet is in a perfect condition and the case doesn’t look its age. The tritium plots have nice and evenly creamed.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to enjoy this watch for long since it was sold and left our store not long after we received it. We understand that something as special as this one wouldn’t stay for long and we are happy that it found a new owner who will enjoy it just as much as we did. Just goes to show, when something unique presents itself, be quick or you’ll mis out.
