We have spoken about the many differences Datejusts can have within its wide range of reference numbers. This one is special for its bracelet since it is a so-called coffee bean bracelet. These were only produced in north and central America and have 14 karat gold center links instead of their European 18 karat gold siblings. This was because of American taxes back in the days which were higher for 18 karat gold than for 14 karats. It’s not just the gold that is different but also the design. The clasp is completely different in design than the ones produced by Gay-Freres and last but not least, the links have an oval form with an almost coffee bean like appearance hence its name.
